Hello all! A few months back i had hit a plateau in my weight loss, and i was thinking to myself, “What am i holding onto that i love to eat that is keeping me from reaching my goal of loosing this baby weight”? I started thinking of the condiments that i put on my foods. Then it hit me……I was addicted to Ranch dressing ! I put it on everything, a little on my salad, a little on my chicken, my stir fry, rice, steak, and dipped all my veggies in it. I started thinking how much every little bit i had adds up and i almost made myself sick. I knew i couldn’t go cold turkey and not put anything on my meats, veggies, chips, and salad, so i created a healthy dairy-free, gluten-free, and even sugar free clean eating salsa! Don’t get me wrong, its not your ranch, but its so much healthier and it was exactly what a body needs sometimes as it is holding on to some of the things that are blocking you from getting down to your last few lbs.
Just to help you understand what I mean in one serving of Ranch dressing or at least the generic brand of ranch dressing i was using from Walmart has 14 grams of Fat and 130 calories in one serving. The serving is only 2 TBSP. OMG!! Seriously i was eating way more than 2 TBSP. Plus in the ingredients it says, salt, and it lists about 7 preservatives, along with modified food starch, in addition i don’t even know how much since it’s just listed in the ingredients list.
Here are the ingredients to my clean eating salsa:
2 Medium-Large size Tomatoes (one medium tomato is approx: 25 calories)
2 Green Bell Peppers (one green pepper has 33 calories)
1 Onion (approx 67 calories)
1 TBSP of Garlic (add more to taste if you like)
1 handful of cilantro (1/4 cup = 1 calorie)
Add lemon or lime juice to taste
Bonus: Sometimes, i add a fresh diced peach, watermelon, or mango for taste!
I put these ingredients in my chopper and then just stir them all together! Super Easy!
This makes about 2 cereal bowls of Salsa, i put it in the fridge and use it for my toppings throughout the week, so i have no excuse to grab for the all the unhealthy condiments i normally would.
